Welcome to Weaverville Elementary School Technology
WESTECH
4th through 6th grade students will spend two days per week (45 minute sessions) in the computer lab during the 2007/08 school year. 7th/8th grade students will have computers as an elective class. WES students will use their acquired skills to complement what has been learned in the classroom. Our goal is to train students in such a way as to support their classroom learning, providing teachers with students capable of producing higher quality reports, strengthened research skills, and improved academic ability. One of our goals is to prepare elementary school students for high school. By training individuals to use Microsoft Office tools, they will be able to handle a variety of high school assignments. Starting in the 4th grade, students will receive 10 minutes of typing practice per day. Students will access lesson plans and links from their Classroom links on the WES web site.

Parents
We appreciate our parents! Your involvement in the life of our school is valued more than you may ever know. If you have skills that you can offer, we want to hear from you. I personally like having guest speakers come into the computer lab and talk with kids about technology in the "real world". Students appreciate the perspective , and it really adds to the learning process.
Community
We encourage community involvement. Our small community is making a difference in the lives of children on a daily basis. We are not separate entities that isolate from one another. We encourage local businesses to share their expertise with the local school. Guest speakers, volunteers, and financial donations are all a part of what makes a positive difference in the life of a child.
Sponsorship through financial donations are always appreciated and encouraged. Our technology department requires a lot of equipment and upgrades every year. The state of California does not have a lot of money to push our way, and we appreciate any and all financial gifts that go to support our technology department.
Weaverville Elementary School would like to thank you for considering us as a valuable partner in learning. We appreciate your support
