“P” is for Pool Party  Help build our new community swimming pool by participating in the 4th annual Big Splash! The Big Splash will follow the Children’s Festival on May 10th at the Lowden Park Pool at 3:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “P” is for Pool Party. Help raise funds to jump from the diving board wearing any costume that begins with the letter “P”. Get Creative and pick up pledge sheets from the WES office and join in the fun! 
WES Boosters Club Jog-A-thon planned for Tuesday, May 27th. Get your running shoes ready ! Pledge sheets will be coming home soon for K-7 students .
Learn to Earn  Wow! Text Box: The 12th Learn to Earn school year has almost come and gone. Umpqua Bank serves 84 schools and over 6,400 students through this program. The last week of on-campus banking will be May 19-23. Please encourage your child to continue to save over the summer by dropping into our local Umpqua bank. 
Open House & Art Show   Please plan on joining us on Tuesday, May 6th for Open House and our annual Art Show.  Bring your appetite along and enjoy some pizza to help raise funds for the 6th grade environmental camp. Classrooms will be open for visiting and celebrating all that’s been accomplished over the year. 
WES Surveys  WES is in the process of collecting survey information to help guide our improvement Text Box: efforts in the coming year. Students in grades 2,4,6,&8 will complete student surveys. All students will be given parent surveys to take home. Please fill them out and return them to school or bring them with you when you attend Open House next week. We value your input and hope to make  positive changes based on the survey results.
AVID Student of the Year   We are all very proud of Holly Hottell for receiving this award. AVID is a program to encourage young students to begin planning and preparing for college.

Text Box: News from the WES Music Department: The Weaverville Elementary School music program will present a Spring Concert on May 8th at 7:00 pm at the Trinity Alps Performing Arts Center.  The groups performing will be the 6th Grade Chorus, the 7-8th Grade Choir, the 5th Grade Beginning Band, the 6-8th Grade Band, and the Jazz Band.  Included in the concert will be band selections featuring music from “Aladdin” and “Star Wars,” and the song “Seasons of Love,” sung by the choir.  The Jazz Band will play arrangements performed recently at the Reno Jazz Festival.  There will be no admission charge, although donations will be accepted to help with the costs of the use of the theater. There will also be a concert featuring the Weaverville Community Band and the WES Jazz Band on Friday, May 16th @ 7:00 p.m. at the performing arts center. Admission to that concert will be $5 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds will
